Sports Injury Prevention and Performance Enhancement Unit

One of the most significant factors affecting an athlete’s success is sports injuries. The achievement of post-injury treatment is measured by the athlete's ability to return to their pre-injury functional level. For complete recovery and continued participation in sports, this level must be measurable and identifiable. Three-dimensional motion analysis systems have revolutionized the ability to measure body movements with precision and detail.

Our Philosophy

At İKÜ-HAM, our mission is to support sports and athletes by conducting evidence-based scientific research, fostering collaborations, and developing projects in biomechanics with countries leading in sports injury prevention and performance enhancement. We aim to unite scientists operating at an international level, producing and applying science in this domain.

Sports Injury Prevention and Risk Analysis

Minor deviations or abnormalities in athletic movements, particularly due to overuse, increase the risk of acute sports injuries. Specific activities such as walking, running, jumping, falling, kicking, and serving, as well as functional tests used in risk analysis, are examined with 3D motion analysis. Additionally, instantaneous muscle forces (kinetic analyses) generated during joint movements can be measured simultaneously. By interpreting the obtained data, factors contributing to an existing sports injury can be identified, or a significant portion of injuries can be anticipated and prevented before they occur.
