The majority of skeletal system problems causing pain originate from the spine. Spinal issues, such as back and neck pain, rank as the leading causes of hospital visits for skeletal pain among adults. In Turkey and other G20 countries, healthcare expenditures related to spinal problems are steadily increasing. These findings highlight the growing importance of developing advanced treatment methods, particularly in preventive and protective healthcare practices.
Developed in the late 20th century, 3D motion analysis has progressively advanced with the power of technology and engineering. Although measuring spinal movement remains challenging due to its structure, recent innovations in 3D motion analysis systems have enabled the measurement of spinal movements and the examination of their relationship to various conditions. Like in leading countries such as the United States, Belgium, and Switzerland, spinal movements can also be evaluated in 3D at our center.
Scoliosis is a health condition characterized by the structural deformation of the spine, resulting in curves of varying shapes and degrees. It can cause pain, restrict movement, limit participation in sports and artistic activities, negatively affect aesthetic appearance, and reduce the quality of life. The progressive nature of scoliosis often necessitates costly treatments and surgical interventions.
It is estimated that scoliosis affects approximately 5 out of every 1,000 healthy children in Turkey. Given its potential to develop due to various diseases, it is considered a significant health problem that can adversely impact life.
Early diagnosis of scoliosis can often lead to correction using less risky and more affordable treatment methods. There is a pressing need to develop safe and effective treatment approaches for individuals. Observing the spinal structure and movements in real-time and 3D during common activities such as sitting, walking, running, or exercising is crucial. This enables clinicians to develop evidence-based methods, ensuring patients benefit from effective and safe treatments.
